2025 Rodeo Event Sign Ups
Thank you for signing up for the 2025 Mechanics Bank Rodeo Shootout on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 6:30 PM.
Each event will pay $1,000 for 1st place and 2nd place depending on the number of entries; with the exception of Mutton Busting and the Businessman's Calf Dressing, which will receive buckles only. There will be an added purse for the Bull Riding Event.
Performance Events include Barrel Racing, Break Away Roping, Bull Riding, Mutton Busting, Ranch Broncs, Ribbon Roping, Team Roping & Siskiyou Saddle Cow.
All prize money will be awarded after the event. All monetary winners over $600 must complete a W-9 form prior to their payment being issued.
The Siskiyou Golden Fair Rodeo Committee is producing the Fair Rodeo again and it will consist of a performance of 10 contestants or teams per event. The committee reserves discretion to add contestants to event totals. The Rodeo will be filled by registering online starting July 1st. Entries will close as filled and the final deadline will be July 31st, whether events are full or not. The traditional Siskiyou County events - Mutton Busting and Saddle Cow will be contestant winners from the local rodeos and contacted by the Rodeo Committee.
The Rodeo Committee is focused on three key objectives: (1) to provide safety for everyone involved in the event, (2) to ensure that rules are fair and followed by participants int he events, and (3) to ensure this is a fund, thrilling and entertainment event for everyone.
We encourage you to read all the rules carefully and in their entirely. While we have made these rules with safety in mind, we and our agents do not assume any liability in respect to the rules, your application thereof and your safety. We have provided flexibility in areas where, in our opinion, safety is not compromised, nor an unfair advantage created in the interest of ensuring fairness that the rules are subject to the interpretation of our event officials.
QUALIFICATIONS: The Rodeo will be filled through online procedures. Payment must be made by credit card at the time of registering to qualify for the 2025 Siskiyou Golden Fair Rodeo. The exception being Saddle Cow and Mutton Busting which will be filled with a roll down within qualifier rodeos in Siskiyou County - qualified ties at any rodeo supersede roll downs.
NON-QUALIFICATIONS: Contestants individually and in team events can only enter the rodeo once per event.

EVENT RULES
*Events will be governed by CCPRA rules, except for Saddle Cow, Ranch Broncs and Ribbon Roping.
*Should an event not have a qualified winner in all places, there will be no ground splits.
*These rules will be posted online and at the secretary's table - it is the sole responsibility of the contestant to know and understand the rules for this rodeo.
*All contestants including riders, runners and hazers will be required to be in full western attire - cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and a long sleeved cuffed and collared shirt. Safety helmets are acceptable in place of the cowboy hat.
SADDLE COW -
1. Chute draw for saddle cow will be done after entries are completed.
2. Each team must provide their own saddle: no sharing will be allowed and an attempt to share will result in a disqualification (DQ) for both teams.
3. All saddles must have a latigo and a cinch.
4. For the safety of the cows, all cows will be saddled with a light cinch and cinched up when directed.
5. A qualified ride is 6 seconds. The cow must be on her feet for the time to start when flagged at the plane of the gate (judge's discretion).
6. Time begins when the cow breaks the plane of the gate open at a 90-degree angle from the chute opening approximately 8'. The timer may be in the arena, or the flagger will drop the flag to start the time.
7. In the event that a cow falls down and does not regain her footing, the team will be disqualified (DQ).
8. Nothing can be thrown at the cow from a contestant.
9. The hazer and cow cannot come in contact with each other during the ride.
10. The saddle must hit the back of the chute from which the cow was released to stop the time.
11. Both the rider and the hazer must have a hold on the rigging (saddle, cinch, latigo) when it is thrown into the chute.
12. No gimmicks are allowed.
13. All rules are subject to the judge's discretion.
14. If one member of the qualifying team cannot compete at the fair, the other member must ride and the replacement team member must be the hazer.
15. A team can only compete once at the fair rodeo, representing the qualifier rodeo where they first qualified. A roll down will occur when contestants at a later rodeo have already qualified at an earlier rodeo. The roll down will come from contestants at that rodeo only.
RANCH BRONC -
1. The rider must ride for 8 seconds.
2. The rider may have a hold on the saddle with both hands and the mark out rule will not apply.
3. Contestants cannot share a saddle with another contestant.
4. Loss of a stirrup
will not
result in a disqualification.
5. Loss of the bronc rein
will
result in a disqualification.
RIBBON ROPING -
1. A 30-second time limit will be enforced for this event.
2. Roper will only be allowed one loop.
3. A barrier will be in play. There will be a 1-second penalty for barrier infraction added to the time.
4. Three legal catches - slick horns, half head and neck roped. All others will result in a DQ.
5. Dragging of a steer towards the circle will result in a disqualification (DQ).
5. Runner must start and end in the circle.
6. Should the ribbon fall off before the runner touches it, the time will stop when it hits the ground, and the team will get a new run without a barrier on a lap and tap basis.
MUTTON BUSTING -
1. Mutton Busting will only have 6 contestants - two from each qualifying rodeo.
2. Mutton Busting will not have a monetary award, buckle only.
3. A roll down will occur when contestants that win at a later rodeo have already qualified. The roll down will come from contestants at a later rodeo only.
